The tarantula hawk wasp female (genus Pepsis) scours the desert in search of prey for her young. These wasps are often huge, with many species having body lengths of about 2 inches, although some can be much larger. This female will fearlessly tackle a tarantula and paralyze it with her stinger before dragging it back to a burrow and laying a single egg on it.
This soft enamel pin is approximately 2 inches long. With striking blue-black metal, double posts for extra protection, and a backer card featuring the species name and facts, it makes a stunning statement piece for anyone who loves these bold wasps or the southwestern deserts.
