Eurytides marcellus is found throughout the North American range of its host plant, the pawpaw tree (Asimina triloba). Adult butterflies drink nectar, but they also have other appetites that seem unbecoming of such lovely creatures. Zebra swallowtails are often found “puddling”—drinking directly from the soil to soak up salts and nutrients.
